We closed our Chilliwack cafe for a day of learning and coffee sampling with our pals at Swiss Water Process

Back in April, the SG crew had the absolute pleasure of visiting our friends at the Swiss Water Process HQ in Delta, B.C.

We're coffee lovers so it seemed appropriate to take advantage of the fact that one of the most successful and well-respected coffee decaffinators has their headquarters and production facility right in our backyard.

So, we shut the cafe down for a day, piled into the SG Van, cranked up the Celine Dion in the old tape deck and made hay to Delta.

The day was divided into two sessions. First, we toured their enormous facility. We've rarely seen so much coffee in one place. It's an impressive operation. Everyone was decked out in full safety gear, every surface was immaculate and it ran incredibly smooth.

The second part was especially fun as we got to spend time in the Swiss Water Coffee Lab for a private cupping. They showed us some of their most exciting coffees and we got to share our Peru, Swiss Water Decaf with them as well.

The SG team got to do a full-on cupping and share thoughts and notes. We even tried some beans that might be joining our line-up in the near future...

Decaf coffee is actually growing in popularity at a faster pace than regular coffee and we find that incredibly interesting. We definitely want to explore more decaf and half-decaf products and we are so happy we have pals at Swiss Water to keep us on top of it!

Instead of re-explaining the entire Swiss Water Process in our own words, we'll direct you to this super interesting video that does an incredible job of breaking the process down here
