The Best Places to Visit near Chilliwack on Your Way to the Okanagan
We've noticed a lot more people from Vancouver and beyond visiting our Chilliwack cafe. And a lot of them are headed to Kelowna or somewhere in the Okanagan. We love to see it and we often get asked "where else should we stop?" Well, we love to shout out other local spots so we decided to create our list of the best places to visit on the way to the Okanangan!
Our neighborhood, District 1881, gets a lot of attention - and rightly so! It's filled with top-notch restaurants, breweries and shops. But, there are some hidden gems out there so we expanded our list to some of the towns outside of Chilliwack.
Chilliwack has always been a "pit stop town," but it's getting better and better. Maybe after reading this list, instead of making Chilliwack a place to stretch your legs on the way to somewhere else, you'll make Chilliwack your destination!
If you are planning to spend a few days in Chilliwack, make sure you check out the brand new boutique hotel in downtown Chilliwack, Hotel Morado. It's charming, in the heart of the neighbourhood and they have SG coffee in every room. What a DREAM.
Ok, here's the list of places to visit when your passing through (or staying) in Chilliwack.
Eastern Fraser Valley Pit Stop Tour
The Bouquet Farm, Yarrow
This boutique shop is filled with locally crafted goods and sits on a beautiful small-plot flower farm. If you plan ahead they host workshops and classes on floral arrangements, wreaths and more. We highly recommend you check them out and just a few minutes away is one of BC's best wineries, Whispering Horse. Enjoy a wine tasting while you gaze out at the vineyard and take a bottle or two with you for when you get ot your destination. You won't be disappointed.
Fortitude Wine Bar, Chilliwack
Another wine related stop, but Fortitude is worth checking out! Not only do they have an incredible selection of curated wines, they have a wonderful menu that pairs perfectly. They also host events like their popular Sunday School series which is a wine tasting and education event open to all.
The Offy Bistro, Chilliwack
If you're looking for a delicious meal that rivals the best bistros in Vancouver (or Paris for that matter), head to the Offy. European-inspired eats are served alongside world-class cocktails in a beautiful bistro setting. They have an expansive patio if you feel like dining al fresco!
Harrison Corner Cafe, Harrison Hot Springs
This breakfast-lovers dream is situated just far enough off the main drag of Harrison Lake that you can usually get a table within a few minutes and avoid the lines and crowds of Harrison. They offer elevated home style breakfasts made with local ingredients. Their eggs benedict is truly perfect and everything on the menu is made with care and intention. They have a full coffee bar featuring SG coffee too!
Mountainview Brewing, Hope
A pit stop in Hope is a must. This beautiful little mountain town has remained relatively the same over the decades, but with the addition of new must-visit spots like Mountainview Brewing. Their beers are all fantastic (we recommend the First Blood Orange Wheat Beer), but even if you don't imbibe they have a full food menu and many non-alcoholic options. It's familiy-friendly and they have a great little patio where your furry friends can relax as well.
There are SO many other places we want to shout out, but we will get them another time...
We do want to give some honourable mentions to our pals at Sidekick Brewing, Amble Coffee, Bricklayer Brewing, Mt. Waddington's Outdoors.
Chilliwack and the eastern Fraser Valley is filled with so many gems, some hidden and some not. There are more opening up every year and we'll do our best to keep letting everyone know about them! So, where are you going to visit next?
